Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Engineering grade polymers are designed to provide cost effective performance and extended service life in applications where traditional materials require expensive on-going maintenance and frequent lubrication.
Eliminating the need for continuous lubrication, our self-lubricating, polymer bearings provide environmentally friendly and cost effective solutions for the following industries:
- Renewable Energy
- Agricultural Equipment
- Construction Equipment
- Food Processing
- Water Treatment
- Industrial Equipment
Causes of Traditional Bearing Failure:

True Cost of Traditional Bearings:
The ratio between the cost of the lubricants and the cost to apply these lubricants is typically 1:5.
For example:
-cost of the lubricant $ 2.00,
-total cost of applying the lubricant $ 10.00.
Performance:
Applied Engineering Plastics, Inc. has aided numerous OEMs with the specification and design of engineering grade plastic bearings, reducing total ownership cost and improving operating performance.
Feedback from one of our clients regarding the performance of our polymer bearings compared to Teflon-bronze bearings in an accelerated testing environment:
After the equivalent of 90 years of cycling the samples were compared yielding the following results:
– The polymer bearing only lost 1.4% of its starting mass while the Teflon-bronze bearing lost 8.0% of its starting mass.
– The friction between the shaft and the polymer bearing remained +/-20% of its starting value while the friction between the shaft and the Teflon-bronze bearing INCREASED 80-140%
– The polymer bearings are 1/2 the cost of the Teflon-bronze bearings!!!!!!
